Welcome to the Salvation Army, British Columbia Recycling Centre's Web site. For over
100 years the "Sally Ann" has been recycling clothing, etc. That's why we consider
ourselves to be the "original recyclers". Our 53,000 sq. ft processing centre is
located in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. It is here that all donated clothing,
furniture, and household items are brought to be sorted, repaired, categorized, and
finally shipped out to our 20 thrift stores throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver
Island. It is an enormous under-taking, requiring a fleet of trucks, and 250 employees
to process and retail the over 6,720,000 pounds of product we receive from our generous
donors annually.
Clothing and other reusable items are given away free of charge to those in
need via our Family Services Centers and the balance is sold to the public at
affordable prices through our Thrift Stores. The funds generated, are used to
help finance the numerous Salvation Army programs both locally and nationally.
Without public support, many of our programs and services could not survive. I would
like to thank all those who have donated to us, both materially and of their time,
because our success comes from people helping people. Please continue to support
the work of The Salvation Army.
More information is available on our Recycling Centre, the work of the Salvation Army,
fund raising opportunities, Clothing Banks, Blue-Bag-It, etc. Please enjoy exploring
our web site.
